Meet Our Team
Chris Turnbull,
MSc, APR, CBCP
For a number of years, it was more likely you’d see Chris Turnbull in one of the world’s hot spots than in the United States. Frequent travel to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sudan and about fifty other developing countries kept him on the front lines of crisis management.
Chris’s unique mix of crisis management and strategic communication experience offers his clients an important sounding board when things aren’t going as planned. During his career, he’s spent time at large non-governmental organizations like the World Bank Group and United Nations Women, as well as smaller consultancies like TABB Group and ndp.
At the World Bank, Chris was a valuable member of the institution’s Emergency Management Team. There, he played multiple roles in the Bank’s crisis response including that of a communicator. He created crisis response and communication plans, developed and led leadership training programs and conducted hundreds of simulations to exercise executive decision making processes. Chris personally responded to scores of international and domestic emergencies affecting the World Bank and its staff, including coups-d’etat, earthquakes, hurricanes, and terrorist attacks, which further honed his keen sense for communicating under fire.
Throughout his career, Chris has built a reputation as a trusted advisor, a results-oriented professional and a diplomat. His decade and a half of international experience in communication, management consulting, leadership development and crisis response brings valuable depth to his clients.
Chris received a master’s degree in management, with a focus on public relations from the University of Maryland University College. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Roanoke College. During the past two decades, he has been repeatedly recognized for his service to his community and his colleagues.
